I recently read Rita Gerlach's historical romance novel, Surrender the Wind. I found her blog when I was searching for articles on how to write a book proposal. Rita graciously offered me a copy of her proposal. I didn't know her, had no connection, other than being a fellow writer.

For those of you not in the writer's world, this is a big deal. Contracts are made off of book proposals. Think of it as inside information. After reading the proposal, I wanted to read the book.

Without giving it away, Surrender the Wind, kept me intrigued on several levels. One, it's set just after the American Revolution. We get to travel with the hero from America, to England, and back again. Rita does an excellent job of making you feel like you're in the time period. Our hero, Seth, is brave, honest, and handsome, as every good hero should be. Our heroine, Juleah, is unconventional and strong in her own right. I particularly like Rita's side characters. There are no cookie cutter wooden characters. Juleah's father is very compelling.

Surrender the Wind has twists and turns along with a satisfying ending. I hope you enjoy it and to give you the opportunity, I'm offering one free autographed copy via the generous Rita Gerlach. To enter to win, here's the contest rules, you must do both:
